Weddings at our Colorado Guest Ranch

April 30th, 2011 by 4ur admin

From time to time, we host weddings at our Colorado Family Dude Ranch. We host them in early summer and late fall, before and after our regular season. Guests arrive from all corners of the country, stay for a few days, witness a marriage, and then leave. It is a delightful experience for all.

We can accommodate 50-60 guests for these events, so weddings at our Colorado Family Dude Ranch typically involve family and good friends. Guests partake in all the ranch activities – they go horseback riding, hike, fish Goose Creek, swim, and soak in the natural hot springs. They share meals and toast the couple repeatedly. When the weather has allowed, we have had some truly beautiful outdoor weddings here; on mountain meadows and down by the river.

We supply the wedding cake and the champagne, and happily make recommendations for with professionals for flowers, music, photography, etc.

If you’d like to host your wedding at our Colorado Vacation Ranch, please call 719-658-2202.

Women, Fish, Wine

April 22nd, 2011 by 4ur admin

Imagine spending a week with your best girl friends doing what you most like to do – fish, hang out together, and drink wine.

We invite women to join us at our Colorado Fishing Lodge for the Women, Wine, & Waders Retreat.

That’s what it’s like at our Colorado Dude Ranch during the Women, Wine & Waders Retreat. In 2011, women anglers will take over the ranch the week of August 21-27. You could be there.

You’ll spread out over Goose Creek and spend a day at Lost Lakes. You’ll fish all day, maybe learning new techniques with one of our fishing guides, maybe perfecting old ones. Perhaps you’ll go horseback riding one afternoon, or relax into a massage.

In the evening, you’ll soak in the natural hot springs and cool off in the pool. You’ll indulge in long, sumptuous dinners and share bottles of wine. You’ll talk with old friends and make new friends. You’ll laugh. You’ll be happy and fulfilled.

Sounds ideal, doesn’t it?

It is.

Join us during the Women, Wine & Waders Retreat at our Colorado Dude Ranch, August 21 – 27, 2011. Come with your good friend, your sister, your mother or daughter. Fish in one of the most glorious places on earth. Celebrate life.

Fish Goose Creek.

Getting Closer to Dude Ranch Vacations…

April 2nd, 2010 by 4ur admin

As the Spring Thaw begins to hit Goose Creek, we look forward to warm summer days and cool summer nights at the Guest Ranch. The Rio Grande and Goose Creek’s icy exteriors are starting to loosen up. Soon those chilly, clean waters will be home to the big bright trout that make fly fishing vacations at 4UR Ranch so unique. Yesterday there were elk crossing on Walton Pond — they won’t be able to do that much longer or they will be getting an early spring bath! Soon the birds will be back, bluebirds, humming birds, all sorts, adding to the brightness of Spring in Southern Colorado.

We look forward to welcoming you!

We’ll keep you updated on all the seasonal changes around our Rocky Mountain vacation spot as the sun banishes Winter!

Almost Winter at the Family Dude Ranch

There are a lot of important things that transpire at the Guest Ranch even when the guests are away. Some of the important things we are working on include replacing mattresses in the guest rooms and staff lodging, as well as stocking up on feed for the horses. The kitchen is also getting new flooring and a new paint job. We are trying to take care of as many outdoor chores as possible before the snow and colder temperatures chase us into the shop for the cold months. Maintaining the road and cutting firewood for this winter are keeping us as busy as the horseback riding vacations do in the summer!

Fat & Happy 4UR Horses

Fat & Happy 4UR Horses

We have had a really warm fall, beautiful days and cold clear nights. Aaron and Damon just turned the horse herd into their winter pasture yesterday. As they sprinted by us bucking and bolting, Damon said they looked as good as they felt – fat and happy.

Kiera and Damon were on vacation recently. They took a Wagon Train trip through Canyon de Chelly which they organized. It sounded fantastic. You will definitely see them on your rocky mountain vacation at 4UR, Damon is our head wrangler and Kiera is his lovely wife. They will also be visiting California this month – a great time of year to take a trip to the sunshine state and escape chilly Southern Colorado!

Fall is in the air! At 7,500 feet elevation, you can feel it come on quick here! It is crisp everywhere, and our Hot Springs are more and more delicious in the cool evenings.

Soon it will just be our core staff at the ranch, and the horses of course. This is an important time to allow for Goose Creek to re-coop for next summers Fly Fishing Vacations. Soon the town of Creede will be reduced to the few steadfast year-round residents.

The Creede Repertory Theater closed at the end of August, so all the big stars are out of town as well. Soon we will have the San Juan Mountains all to our self. We work hard to maintain this precious land for the year to come. We want the fields to be green and plentiful to supply the horses in the spring and throughout the summer if possible. Plus, the better care we can take, the better the valley will look for horseback riding vacations in the summer.

Wet winters and Summers make for Wildflowers and Green hillsides

A wet winter and spring make for wildflowers and green hillsides

Soon the snows will come, and there will be a whole new reason to visit Colorado! The skiers and snowboarders will ascend the mountains in search of thrills. We will watch our beautiful valley change as the snows come, and wait, not too differently from hibernating bears, for the spring to come again.

Please feel free to contact us over the winter; we will still be here to answer phones and emails about summertime Rocky Mountain Vacations. We’ll just be carrying hot chocolate instead of ice cold pop.
