Employment Season: Our Colorado guest ranch summer employment season begins in early June and runs into early October. We have many positions which will work for those individuals returning to school in August, and other positions better suited to those who are able to work into October.

Qualifications: We’re seeking cheerful, friendly, and courteous staff who are flexible, team-oriented, and have a positive attitude toward the ranch. Ideal candidates should have a strong work ethic, be comfortable in a physically demanding environment, and be committed to providing guests with a memorable vacation. All staff must have a valid driver’s license and be current in CPR and First Aid certifications before arriving at the ranch.

Staff Jobs:

Waitstaff: We are looking for friendly, self-confident individuals with good manners and a strong sense of etiquette to interact with guests. Duties include serving three daily meals, maintaining the dining room’s order and appearance, and sharing rotational dish-washing duties. Prior waitstaff experience is preferred but not required.

Assistant Cook: Working directly with Executive Chef Blake Bond, this role involves simple cooking, food preparation, assisting with sauces, soups, salads, and grill work. Previous experience and basic knowledge of Colorado Department of Health standards for food handling are required.

Ranch Hand: Ranch hands should expect strenuous outdoor work, including building fences, maintaining buildings and pools, vehicle upkeep, stocking firewood, and hauling materials for guest events. They will also assist with guest transport to/from the regional airport and luggage handling. A positive attitude, good manners, and the ability to handle guest interactions confidently are essential.

Children’s Counselors: This position is ideal for energetic individuals who love working with kids. Two counselors will be responsible for implementing a supervised program for children ages five to twelve, running daily from 9 to 12 mornings and 2 to 5 afternoons, plus an additional 3-4 hours two nights a week. The role involves supervising and participating in outdoor activities such as nature hikes, fishing, archery, wildlife identification, and horseback riding. Counselors must be prepared for physical activity, comfortable working with horses, and hold up-to-date CPR and First Aid certifications before arriving.

Fly Fishing Guides: Goose Creek offers one of the finest private fly fishing experiences in the Rocky Mountain West, and our guests expect skilled, knowledgeable guides. Our guides must be experienced anglers, skilled in communication and teaching, and familiar with fly fishing on both small waters and rivers. Guides should be comfortable working in a team environment and flexible, as they may assist in other areas of the ranch when private trips are not booked. CPR and First Aid certifications are required before arriving at the ranch.

Housekeeping: Housekeeping plays a critical role in creating the first impression for our guests, making it one of the most important positions on the ranch. Housekeepers are responsible for the daily cleanliness of guest rooms, common areas, and all guest buildings, as well as evening turndown service. Attention to detail, good social skills, and teamwork are essential. Once guest room duties are complete, housekeepers may assist with groundskeeping, childcare, or other needs around the ranch.

Wrangler: With a herd of 55 horses, the 4UR Ranch offers a Natural Horsemanship Program for our guests. Wranglers must have significant experience with horses and a positive, mature attitude. They will care for the horses, including grooming, daily brushing, and some veterinary tasks. Wranglers will also lead mountain trail rides, saddle horses, and provide riding lessons based on guests’ experience levels. Additional duties include tack maintenance, fence repair, trail upkeep, and haying. Wranglers must have up-to-date CPR and First Aid certifications and pass the Dude Ranchers Association course on Horse Safety and Adaptive First Aid for the Trail.
