Wine Enhances Colorado Family Vacations

March 6th, 2012 by Gail

There are wines, and then there are great wines. We make it a point to serve great wines at our Creede Colorado Guest Ranch.

For wine aficionados, great wine is an essential part of any vacation. A glass of wine can turn a good moment into an unforgettable moment. And unforgettable moments are what we like to create during Colorado Family Vacations at 4UR.

With an eye toward that, we have crafted a list of memorable wines. Read on to learn more about a few of them.

Oregon Pinot Noirs have garnered world-wide acclaim, and with good reason. They’re outstanding. We’ve selected two, one from Erath Vineyards and one from Domaine Drouhin, that do Oregon proud.

Our Chardonnays all come from California, where some of the best Chardonnays in the world are born. A glass of Chardonnay satisfies on so many different levels. Great Chardonnays are complex, layered, rich yet not decadent. They can be buttery. They can be a bit sweet. They are perfect for a warm afternoon, after hours spent on horseback.

Our Cabernet Sauvingons also all come from California. A favorite is Stags Leap Wine Cellars Artemis, which is big and rich. We drink it on its own and we pair it with our House Smoked Tenderloin of Beef. On chilly days, there is nothing better.

We felt it was important to have at least one Colorado wine on our wine list. Colorado isn’t known for its wines; however, we think Infinite Monkey Theorem, from Denver, produces some good stuff. Here at 4UR Colorado Family Guest Ranch, we feature Sauvignon Blanc, Reisling, and Petite Syrah from Infinite Monkey Theorem. Maybe one day we’ll offer cans of their Black Muscat, just so we can say we do.

Here’s to the 2012 season!

Thanks for Another Great Season

September 28th, 2011 by Gail

The first snow arrived in the mountains on September 15, signaling what we all knew was inevitable – the close of the 2011 season at 4UR Family Guest Ranch.

The first snow has fallen above 4UR.

We’d like to thank everyone: our guests, our staff, our friends. It’s hard to believe the season is really over, since it seems like it just started. It’s the same every year. There’s the rush of activity to prepare for the season each spring, the arrival of our seasonal staff, and then whoosh! We’re off and running until this moment.

There is still plenty to do here, and for that, we’re glad. It helps keep our minds off of everyone who’s gone.

We wish you all a happy and healthy fall, winter, and spring. May you dream of riding horses across wide grassy meadows and fly fishing in Goose Creek. We look forward to seeing you next year at 4UR.

Kids Weeks at the Ranch

March 20th, 2011 by 4ur admin

We still have some space available during our special Kids Weeks this summer at our Colorado Family Vacation Ranch: June 11 – 12 and August 13 – 20, 2011.

Two kids age 9 and under stay here for the price of one child during our “Two for One” Special this summer. We hope this will encourage families who have never been to our Colorado Family Vacation Ranch to give it a try. We also hope some of our returning families will take advantage of this special.

It’s amazing to watch children flourish during their stay here. Many start the week a little shy, perhaps nervous about their first time on a horse. By the end of the week, they are thrilled to show their parents what they can do in the ring, and sad to leave their new friends.

Children having fun - that's what summer is all about.

Winter Living at a Colorado Guest Ranch

January 27th, 2011 by 4ur admin

There aren’t many people at our Colorado Dude Ranch during the off season, and sometimes that can be a bit lonely. However, there are a few perks. One is soaking in Soda Creek Hot Springs, which isn’t possible during the summer.

Another is playing pond hockey. Can’t do that in the summer.

Still another is sledding. Even in the winter, 4UR is perfect for a Family Ranch Vacation!

Sometimes we wish we were open for business during the winter. Think of the fun we would all have!
